Survey Reveals Email Newsletter Ads Outperform Banners by More Than Double

List-Universe has announced the results of its email newsletter industry survey conducted this Fall. 95 newsletter publishers reported figures anonymously. Newsletters aimed at consumers had a median average of 21,350 subscribers; sold ads for a median of $4.00/m and experienced a median advertisement click through rate of 1%. B-to-B newsletters had a median average of 5,670 subscribers; sold ads for a median of $45.00/m and experienced a median advertisement click through rate of 2%. For comparison, banner click through rates are generally averaging less than half of this amount. Email newsletter publishers are expected to grow advertising sales substantially in the coming year as more advertisers learn how powerful and cost-effective the medium is.
