We love the idea of using a viral holiday card to generate more opt-ins to your house list. Key -- unlike most merely "fun" viral cards, speaks directly to its target audience's pain points. This means people who do forward to share the joke, will probably keep forwards within a circle of colleagues who share the same pain. In the end, it's a smaller circle of outreach, but a much better qualified prospect list to email to during the coming year.

E-mail was sent to 2,165 marketers who opted in for e-mails via our Website (www.marketingnpv.com); the campaign used a unique holiday card to grab recipients' attention and was intended to be shared with others the recipients may have forwarded to (hopefully increasing our site registration/e-mail opt-in list).
We tried to hard to capture both the 'holiday spirit' and the measurement challenges that marketers face (which is our company's focus) -- we felt this helped us stand out from the usual generic holiday e-mails that go out each year.
Sorry, the judges promised this winner that we would keep their results private. However, be assured that we have seen all the data - and were thoroughly impressed!
